We have two nice ones listed in our "How To" secion:

JuicyRom and MightyRom - Sprint, Alltel, Tellus
First two posts found here:
http://www.alltouchdiamond.com/index.php/board,5.0.html

I am using MightyRom 2.7 right now because it seems to be more stable than Juicy's.  Juicy did come out with a 2.6 upgrade from the last one of his I tried, so it could be a nice choice as well.  Both have benefits of having all the major tweaks for extra battery life and faster performance all around.  In other words, they take the "bloat-ware" out of the phone, and provide a fresh operating system.  They both add things like the FM Radio feature back onto the Diamond, and have unique customizations to better the overall experience.  Grin

**Remember** that we are only providing the information on this site, as a portal to where the Roms are located at. When flashing, you are part of a "testing" community.  Nothing is guaranteed to work, and bugs will most likely be found along the way.  Flashing Roms is at the users own risk.

How much improvement do you guys get in terms of battery life and performance?  It's nice to take out the bloat-ware, but are there any benefits besides saving storage space? Any other improvements?  I just got a Diamond and am thinking about applying custom ROM.

Thanks in advance for your experience and knowledge.

Battery life is much improved, new .dlls added, registry tweaks made, to improve battery life.  It also will contain the rapid charge .dll, which has your phone charged in an hour.  TF3D is also sped up, only slightly noticeable at first, but once you get all your stuff loaded on your phone, the interface doesnt slow down like stock ROM's.

Thanks.  Has anyone successfully applied a custom ROM to a Rogers Diamond (Canada)?

I successfully applied a custom ROM to my Rogers Diamond.  However, I restored the stock ROM back after a couple of hours.  The custom ROM was said to be the fastest but I felt it to be even slower than the stock ROM.  The biggest problem with custom ROM is that you're adopting other people's tastes and preferences.  The ROM I picked took out some applications I'd like to keep.  And its look and feel is not what I'd prefer.  For example, in "Connections Manager", the stock ROM uses green color for "on"; in the custom ROM, both "on" and "off" are the same gray color.  I thought something's wrong and actually did a reset.  In a couple of apps, the font is just too big for some reason.  And there're a few weird behaviours which could be bugs.

In short, unless you're really bothered by your current Diamond, don't mess with your ROM.  Even then, you probably need to cook your own ROM to be really happy.

The custom ROMs take out or fix the bugs from the stock ROM.  I'm running a SSK ROM and I'm happy with it.  If you don't like the ROM, you could always download a Kitchen like SSK, Caulkins, Juicy, or PPC and cook your own ROM with your own preferences.
