and good riddance! Sorry, but I was sold on the touch-Flo 3D thing, and just couldn't handle the phone itself. I mean I had the ability to fully browse the internet, text message people, and play teeter! Though at first the phone maybe "charming" to say the very least, my announces grew beyond what I can handle!
First, to access bluetooth was always inconvenient. And to top it all off, the bluetooth would turn itself off for no apparent reason! Since I live in california, the hands-free device is required, and this bluetooth thing PISSES ME OFF.
Second, the screen size was too small, and I hated the compressed qwerty layout. I feel that the full QWERTY layout is the easiest to use to browse the internet and to type text messages, but the buttons were WAY too small for my liking.
Thirdly, it feels pretty sluggish. When i saw that they had a "apple look-alike" app called iDIAMOND, i was really excited:
-The interface look WAY faster than the original TouchFLO 3D -The icons look bigger and easier to manage
In fact, I DO believe that the faster interface would definitely help out with the gestures! Because I'd say my gestures work approximately 80% of the time. And when it works, it's not exactly what I wanted to do. I actually have this "in-confident" feeling of the phone not doing exactly what I want it to do, especially in the car. I always have to look at my screen to see if the command/gesture "worked".
I sold my 800W because I wanted something to rival the apple iPhone, and shut people up. Let people know there are better devices than the Apple, and that apple isn't the end-all be-all of all mobile devices. Over the holiday, I purchased the iPod Touch 8GB for my girlfriend, and that interface is AMAZING. The responsiveness, the ease of going on the internet, I mean that thing was everything it made the ruckus about. Now I'm strictly talking about UI. At first, I had prejudices for any full touch device going on the internet. I mean i DREADED going on the internet with the Touch Diamond, and hated text messaging. On my Palm 700p, and the 800w, I still hated going on the internet and txt messaging, but not as much as I hate going on the internet and text messaging on the Touch Diamond. With the iPod Touch, this was easy and smooth. I mean much better than my old 700p and my 800w and DEFINITELY A LOT EASIER than my Diamond!!! Everything was smooth and quick and precise about the iPod touch, and it really made me jealous! At that point, i wanted an iPhone more than anything. But AT&T plans quickly put that to rest. Compared to my incredible SERO plan from sprint, it'll cost something around $150/month to get a similar plan on my 50/mo plan on sprint. That idea went out the window fairly quickly.
I just hate the device almost with a passion. I mean, if I hate this device so much, I can't imagine how much i will hate the samsung "Instink". I actually justified getting this phone because the 800w did NOT have MMS. But to my surprise the Diamond's Picture mail isn't fun either. It's actually a "hope that it'll work". And a day later, it'll finally transmit. I had to download "SMMS" app, and go through the "wait" (since it's trial only) to send MMS. THAT i find to work better than the Diamond MMS app, and even then was a nuisance.
I do love the high resolution screen of the phone, but it gets old quick. I've had my phone since november, and i've tried just "settling" with the phone, overlooking my annoyances with the phone and just deal with it. I was going to live with this dread t'ill my next contract re-newal. I can guarantee you that i will NOT look into another HTC touch device.
So, my prayers have been answered with the new "Palm Pre". It seems that is the FIRST device that will give iPhone a SERIOUS challenge. I saw videos of it, and I can't help but to think that it is as fast, if not, faster and MORE responsive than Apple's Device. I liked how MMS was handled in my 700p and how easy it was switching between phone and app.
Well, enough ranting, I'm going to call up HTC about my diamond not having a perfect "bluetooth" experience in hoping that I'll get a new phone so I can sell it for as much as I can get it for to put it towards the new Palm PRE.
Sorry about the rant, but I've just about had it.
