Wait / Pause "function" in stored numbers

In many other phones, there is the ability to add a 2-second "wait", after which time the phone will send the remaining numbers, when dialing a stored number.  I have a friend who has an extension; I want to call him and just press 1 number.  His company has a phone server that asks you to enter the extension.  I'd like the phone to just handle this by waiting for the answer, then sending the extension.

Other phones also have a "pause", where you save a number in memory, say to access your Voicemail.  You hit "Send", then when the server asks you to type in your code, you press "Send" again and the code is sent.

This is much easier than having to access the keypad, then try to type in the code.

I have not figured out a way to do this with the HTC Diamond; is the capability even there?
