Hi!

I don't know much about GPRS and roaming, maybe somebody can explain it to me, but I would like to prevent my phone to use GPRS without asking first. I can't use internet for free until september, because my previous contract is still valid.

At the top of my screen there is a cone shaped icon, I looked it up and it means roaming...how can I get rid of roaming? Is this roaming for regular calls or for internet? I don't want to use is, because I live near the borders of the Netherlands.
I changed my settings to manual network selection, is this enough?
I hope some of you can help me, thanks in forehand!

Have your phone company block internet until September then.

I'm not sure when Roaming means roaming!

I use a sim free Diamond on my existing 3 X-Series contract. I keep getting a Roaming message, sometimes on email, internet, or the roaming warning on Weather update for instance, so I checked my bill. There were no roaming charges, and I wouldn't expect there to be with a 3 Network sim working in the UK, although I have heard of some sims on the south coast roaming on a French network. I've had my old O2 connection working in some northern parts of Brittany in the past, but that might have been the old analogue phone - can't remember

Must be when the phone switches between one or more of GRSM, Edge, 3G, H etc, I haven't checked which, but it my case even though it says it's 'Roaming', it's still on one of the 3 connections. This seems to be some sort of bug

Check that your network provider is showing on the Home screen when it next says it's considering roaming!

It's confusing

The way I do this is by launching the Commication Manager application and disabling DATA (3G, GPRS, HSDPA).
You could more easily: click on the 3G/GPRS icon on the system tray. A window will open with a link to Comm Manager. Once you are there select the 3g/Gprs  and choose Turn Off.

Just turning them of in the comm manager only turns them off until the Diamond wants to use them again. Also it won't ask you if you want to connect it will just connect.

I would also like the Diamond to ask before connecting, but for now I have stop the Diamond from connecting by changing the network management settings to My ISP.

Start->Settings->Connections Tab->Connections Icon->Advance Tab->Select Networks Button, then select My ISP which will stop applications automatically connecting via GPRS, 3G.

don't take the effort Smiley

install this cab file. After that a program no data appears in your programs list. just disable the internet connections. If you need them afterwards you can reenable them!
