Touch Screen unresponsive

So, I think I broke my phone.  For a few weeks, the touch screen has been a little off, and no amount of screen alignment or soft resets would fix it.  Yesterday, once I unplugged it in the morning, it would only stay on for a minute or so, and then I would need to soft reset it to get it to be responsive again.  At that point, I decided to do a hard reset.  After doing the hard reset, it got stuck on the Align Screen program, so I went into the windows start-up file and removed the Welcome file. 

Once I did that, the phone turned back on, however, the touch screen is completely unresponsive, meaning that I can't install a program to take control of the screen via my PC, I can't attempt to re-align the screen, etc.  Does anyone have any suggestions? 

My provider is Verizon, in case that matters.
