With the cost of mobile internet connect high via Telstra in Australia, is it pooible to stop the phone autmatically connecting to the internet?

I find that the phone has randomly connected to the net for seemingly no reason and it is racking up costs /i don't want or need.

Thanks in advance.

Have your phone company lock your data.

Thanks, but I was more looking for a way to make the phone confirm the connect before proceeding as I still want to be able to connect to the net, but only when I really want to.

I don't think there is a way to make you ask for it. Usually what I do is I see the screen, click the E or H logo on top bar, and it shows connecting and I click cancel.
