SMS alerts

I`ve had my glorious phone fopr a while now, but the one thing that still bothers me is that I set the notification page to play a sound when I send a text, but it never works. I always have to go into the sent box to check it`s actually gone. Any ideas how I get the alert to actually play. I`ve even managed to add the `DR. WHO` ring tone when I get a call, but nothing happens when I send a text. Any ideas?
