How do i down load applications please?

Help please!

I am having no luck down loading apps.

I have tried the handwriting recognition app: http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=824&news_id=473
Even the instructions of the HTC website do not correspond to my phone (Diamond2 windows 6.1) and when I down load the app to my pc and place it into a folder in my phone, i have a message telling me that the app isn't compatible with my phone!

I have also tried to load some geocaching (navigation) software using the same method: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/get-gcz.html
In this case it treats the 'set up' file as a web page and tries to connect to the internet!

Any suggests please? (will be gratefully received!)
