My alarm works but won't shut off once it starts to ring and vibrate. There is no option to dismiss or snooze. The only way I've been able to silence it is to shut the phone off and restart. Any suggestions?

If you press on the clock, it should go to the alarm page.  Just de-select the alarm and it should stop sounding.  Unfortunately, you may have to wait a minute or so, before turning it back on.

Otherwise, set up the alarm in your calendar as an appointment, re-occurring whenever.  When the alarm sound, you have an option to dismiss it.

Nope. Tried all that. Even if I de-select the alarm, once it starts ringing it won't shut off. I let it go on for 20 minutes just to make sure. As for the dismiss notification, it used to be there but would not shutoff the alrm. Now the notification doesn'teven show up. Maybe the phone knows that it will become airborne if it tries to make me push any more buttons that don't work. Last phone did this after I updated the ROM. This replacement phone came from the factory with the update.

First thing to check.

Start/Settings/Sounds@notifications/notifications  Under Event scroll down to Reminders, then make sure Display message on screen is checked.

Other option may be to install a third party app like GAlarm.
