Which camera should I Buy for HD video ?

I want to Buy a good HD video recording camera. I am an amateur film maker, looking to make some good movies with a camera that will serve me on multi purpose basis. Canon 550d ? Lumix G2? or a panasonic camcorder? or ?? Which one should be a flexible option keeping a slightly low budget in mind.
