I've customized my Diamond, many, many, many times over, made my own themes and pretty much changed every color on every piece of my Diamond, using Hex edits, reg edits, photoshopped manila.  So here is a basic start for using reg edits to change some colors.  I will get into Hex and photoshopping a little later.

Changing the Top and Bottom Nav bars:

Changing the .Tsk:

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Today\Name.Tsk

The first four and the last two are the top bar...Caption Flat, Command Bar, Command Bar Highlight, Command Bar Sip Highlight Plus the Bottom Two.
Anything that says Sofkey is the bottom bar.

You want to change all registry's Value Data that do not say "Text" in them to the same color, and the ones that do say "Text" to a readable color, ie Black on white and so on.

Color Codes
1E 90 FF 00  is a light blue (Dodger Blue) color of the outfield fense
00 00 00 00 BLACK
FF FF FF 00 WHITE
FF 00 00 00 RED
00 00 99 00 BLUE
FF FF 00 00 YELLOW
00 FF 00 00 LIME GREEN
 Thats just a few.

Next go to...HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\HTC\PHONE

Scroll down to Highlight Color and Highlight Text Color and do the same thing, change the values to whatever you want.  Click on registry, and change Value Data to corresponding hexadecimal color code.

Now if you want to change to color of "Start" and the Time on the Top Bar, then go to...HKEY_Local_Machine\Microsoft\Color

Add New Binary Value where the Name is 9, and the Value is Whatever Color you want using Hexadecimal code. Example (1E 90 FF 00)  Dodger Blue.  I personally use Black (00 00 00 00) as it contrast nicely against my light blue glass theme.  Also in that same registry, existing Binary Values, 13, 14, 25, 26 change the outline color of pop up notices, like missed calls and text or reminders and email.  In here you can also change the Base hue, which is well you'll notice right away what it changes.

Hex Editing you can change the Font color on all tabs, so lets say you have a light background and you want a Red font to see text messages, you can do that.  Only changeable font on Home tab is the Appointment name, so it say 9:00 AM  Lunch with Sharon, the "Lunch With Sharon" part can be changed.  Every other tab is fully customizable.

Editing manila with photoshop allows you to make your own sliders (bottom sliding tab mving thing), your own clocks, Icons, everything.

Will get into this a little bit later.

There are a lot of things you need to do before even digging into photoshopping new clocks or icons or anything for that matter.  So here we go.

1.  Get Total Commander http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
2.  Download CFC_GUI.exe  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470798
3.  On your phone create a folder on the Internal Storage side of the phone called Manila Files.
4.  Open Total commander, nav in to "Windows" folder, with the keyboard SIP on your phone, select ctrl A to highlight all files, hold down on highlightes files, select properties and uncheck "read only, hidden and system"
5.  Next highlight all files again, hold down and select copy to clipboard, then go to Manil folder you just created and paste those files.

Now you have a copy of all you Windows files and Manila on your Internal storage.

6.  Drag all those files into a folder on your computers desktop, then on the folder select properties and uncheck read only.

Open up CFC_GUI select the path as the folder on your desktop, and let the program run.  It will show all the manila files and pictures of what they are in the next window.

This sounds like a lot, but trust me it's not. Once you get this going a few times, it will be nothing.

The clock manila files are 1c813f6c, 0aa5b915, 78ca32be, 757e7332 and the backgrounds of the clock are 4e670504 and 1bbfdc9b (this one is also the icons for missed call and calender)

Now in CFC GUI, highlight one of the manila files, select trim then save as...save to your desktop.

Now you have a png copy, and you open that with Photoshop and color it until you are satisfied.

Go back to cfc gui, select replace with, then select your new modified clock then selct pad.  Now your new manila file is in your Desktop folder with your original manila files.  Take that file out and transfer it to your phone, now with total commander, overwrite existing file and now you have a new clock.

Now remember this sounds like a lot, but its really not.  Once you get the hang of it, it is easy, I would say this is for advanced users, but I started from zero knowledge now I edit files all the time.  We are all noobs once.

Caution, once you jump in and do this, you will not stop.  It's addicting making your phone exactly how you want it.  It's one thing to grab a theme from someone, its a completely different thing to make your own.

In this you will notice all the files you need to create custom sliders, highlight presses, custom phone dialers, everything you need is in there, you can even change the Opera splash screen to whatever you want.

Remember these changes are just for the top and bottom bars on the phone, so if you want those pink.  You need to find the Pink you want, here is a site with Hex codes.  http://html-color-codes.com/

You have a registry editor, correct?  If not...http://freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml

Open up that program, and go to HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Today\your .tsk folder (I dont know the name of yours)but click on it.

You will see CaptionFlat, CommandBar, CommandBar_Highlight, CommandbarSIP_Highlight, CommandBarText_Highlight, Highlight, NavBar_Highlight, SoftKeyBtnFace, SoftkeyFlat, SoftKeyFlat_Highlight, SoftKeyFlatCenter, SoftKeyFlatCenter_Highlight, TitleFlat, TitleFlatCenter.

All those you need to change their Values to a Pink Hex code such as FF 33 99 00

So when you click on CaptionFlat a new screen will show up saying Value Name:  Color_CaptionFlat and Value Data: ?? ?? ?? ??  Change the Value Data to FF 33 99 00,  Leave the Value Name the same, click Ok, and move on and do the same for the next one.  Exit out of Reg Editor, soft reset and your done.

ok thanks so much for your time. I've been reading alot of posts by you and I gotta tell you.... your soo cool cause you know so much about the phone. To be honest with you when I first got my phone I hated it because I didn't understand how to do things. Right now there are still some things that frustrate me which are settings that I know could be changed but I just don't know how. Ughh I just know basic stuff and trust me it's not a lot.

I would prefer to thank you for that efforts you might have produced in writing this article. I am hoping the exact same best do the job from you within the long term too. In reality your inventive writing abilities has inspired me to start my very own BlogEngine weblog now.
