(Diamond from Verizon) GPS help

So i have a diamond touch from Verizon Wirerless and i have had it for going on 6 months,,,my only major problem is that i cant get my GPS to work,,,,im not even sure if i have one,,,,does it only work with VZ-navigator,,,or will it work with google maps or bing apps???,,,,i have tried both and the google maps app gives me a "light Blue bubble" general idea of where i am and with the bing app it wont find me at all,,,what are some good FREE map apps???,,how do i get my GPS to work so i can get precise location??,,,,, HELP!!!
